CHS PREPS (Preparing Responsible Enlightened Participants in Society)
CHS will host an accreditation team from Advanc-Ed on February 2nd and 3rd. Advanc-Ed, the national parent organization of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), assists 27,000 schools across the US and in 65 countries in their school improvement efforts, and awards accreditation to those schools that demonstrate an ongoing commitment to excellence. This Advanc-Ed visit will be the "final exam" for CHS's two-year self study.
As part of this process, CHS faculty and staff collaborated with parents and community representatives to review the school's mission statement to ensure that the school is aligned with Central's vision of providing "the community with well educated citizens and leaders of the future" (City of Central Master Plan). The team will evaluate CHS's programs and policies, before providing recommendations, and these suggestions will guide the school's improvement until the next accreditation visit in five years.
So, students, if you're asked what PREPS means, please remember: "Preparing Responsible Enlightened Participants in Society."
DECA students are selling t-shirts for $12 during all lunch shifts to support St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. There are two color/design choices. DECA students are also selling black hooded sweatshirts for $20 to raise money for the Orlando conference. Please see Ms. Dykes in room N214 for details and/or ordering.

Senior Justin Schopp was recently chosen as CHS's Student of the Year. Finalists were Kelsey Frazier and Amy Holmes. Judges narrowed the field to three based on the quality of portfolios using State Department of Education guidelines. The three finalists were interviewed by a panel of community members and interview scores were used to choose CHS's Student of the Year. In his interview, when asked to describe the characteristics of a highly successful person in the workplace, Justin replied, "Honesty, integrity, and a strong work ethic. . . . " We hope that Justin's own work ethic will help him succeed in regional and state competition! |
